Filmfare Award for Best Actor

The Filmfare Award for Best Actor is given by ''Filmfare'' as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi (Bollywood) films, to recognise a male actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role. The award was first given in 1953. As of 2015, Dilip Kumar and ShahRukh Khan lead the list, with eight wins each.
==Superlatives==

13 actors account for 45 of the 56 awards recognised thus far. Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, with 8 wins, have more Best Actor awards than any other actor. Amitabh Bachchan has 5 wins, Hrithik Roshan has 4 wins, and Rajesh Khanna and Naseeruddin Shah have 3 wins each.
Dilip Kumar also holds the record for most consecutive wins, having won the award for three years in a row from 1955 to 1957. Six other actors have won the award in consecutive years; in chronological order, they are Rajesh Khanna (1970–71), Sanjeev Kumar (1975–76), Amitabh Bachchan (1977–78), Naseeruddin Shah (1980–81), Shah Rukh Khan (1997–98), and Ranbir Kapoor (2011–12).
Actors who have won both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards include Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shammi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar and Farhan Akhtar. Three actors were nominated for both these awards for the same performance: Raaj Kumar for ''Kaajal'' (1966), Ashok Kumar for ''Aashirwad'' (1969) and Kamal Haasan for ''Saagar'' (1985). In both occasions, Ashok Kumar and Kamal Haasan won the Best Actor award and Raaj Kumar won the Best Supporting Actor award.
Three actors have won the award for their debut performances: Rishi Kapoor for ''Bobby'' (1973), Anupam Kher for ''Saaransh'' (1984) and Hrithik Roshan for ''Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai'' (2000). Other actors who got nominated in this category for their debut performances are Sunny Deol for ''Betaab'' (1983) and Darsheel Safary for ''Taare Zameen Par'' (2007), who, at the age of 11, became the youngest Best Actor nominee in the history of Filmfare.
Aamir Khan has the highest number of consecutive nominations, having been nominated for the award every year from 1988 till 1996, eventually winning 9th time for ''Raja Hindustani'' in 1996.
Dilip Kumar achieved supremacy in 1950s with four wins and continued domination in 60s with three wins. Rajesh Khanna took over in the 70s with three wins. Naseeruddin Shah emerged successful in the 80s with three wins. Shah rRukh Khan garnered triumph with four wins in 90s. Hrithik Roshan had four wins in 2000s which were the highest. Ranbir Kapoor is leading the 2010s with two wins to his credit.
Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan hold the record for the highest number of Best Actor nominations in a single year. Bachchan has been nominated thrice in 1978 and 1982 and Khan in 2004. Moreover, Kumar, Bachchan and Khan are the most awarded actors in the overall acting categories, with 8 awards each: Kumar and Khan are the winners of 8 Best Actor awards, and Bachchan is the winner of 6 Best Actor awards and 3 Best Supporting Actor awards. Bachchan is the most-nominated performer in any major acting category at Filmfare, with 39 nominations overall.
Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are the only actors to be nominated twice for the same role. Roshan achieved this feat twice; he was nominated for his role as Krishna Mehra in 2006 and 2013, and for his role as Rohit Mehra in 2003 and 2013 (he won in 2003). Shahrukh Khan was nominated in 2006 and 2011 for his portrayal of the titular character in ''Don'' and Salman Khan was nominated in 2010 and 2012 for his role as Chulbul Pandey in ''Dabangg'' and ''Dabangg 2'' respectively.
